Miguel Ángel Jiménez gives his support in order to finance a Doctor Smile for the Children’s Hospital of Málaga.
Funds were raised for this good cause on the III Edition of the Charity Tournament CIT (Colegio Internacional de Torrequebrada) which was held on Lauro Golf on Saturday 22nd of March and where the world known golfer Miguel Ángel Jiménez was present.
Alhaurin de la Torre, 22 de marzo de 2009. –Miguel Ángel Jiménez, a world known golfer returned to his natal Málaga after participating in competitions in Arizona and Florida in order to give his support to the third Charity Golf Tournament that the International School of Torrequebrada organizes each ear with the sponsorship of Lauro Golf.
The day was full of activities for all ages. The adults’ tournament started at 9.00 in the morning with almost a hundred players and the children´s tournament started around ten in the morning.
Mercedes Benz had promised a brand new car to anyone who would achieve a hole in one but unfortunately this time there were no lucky ones in this matter.
The winners of the tournament get to participate in the Proam del Open de Andalucia which will be held in Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. The winners, who also received a trophy and a watch, were Juan Cruzado, José Domiguez and Anders Mogensen. The overall winner was actually a young gentleman called Callum Murphy who being under aged will not be able to participate in the Proam del Open de Andalucía. However, he didn’t seem to mind too much, after all he was the winner.
In the children’s tournament the winner was Nicolás Caurel followed by Adrián Mesa and Morgan Quailey, the young promise of Lauro Golf .
Part of the day was a clinic given by Miguel Ángel to the young golfers who listened to his indications with great attention and enthusiasm that could be see on their faces.
The purpose of this tournament was to achieve smiles on the faces of hospitalized children by raising funds to the Theodora Foundation that organizes Dr Smile in the Children’s Hospital of Málaga. This good cause was supported, apart from Miguel Ángel Jiménez, by Mercedes Benz, Grupo Vertice etc.
A charity auction was also held on the premises and some valuable items were sold for good prices. A flag from the Ryder Cup signed by the whole European team was sold for 3.000€, a football signed by all the players of Real Madrid raised 1.800€ and a t-shirt of the same team changed owners for 1.200€.
In general the day was very successful and especially the youngest golfers seemed to enjoy every minute of it.
Charity tournaments form part of the activities of Lauro Golf Club that is always trying to participate in good cause by organizing charity competitions for Charity Funds like “Save the children”, “Cruz Roja” or “Teléfono de la Esperanza”
